Marinus Cornelis Mulder was born on 6 May 1960 in Ede. He studied theology at the University of Utrecht, where he passed the candidate exam in 1982 and also completed the teacher training in the Theological Faculty in Utrecht that same year. Beginning in  1982, he studied at the Theological University in Apeldoorn, where he again obtained a candidate exam in 1985 and passed the doctoral exam in 1990, for which he received the judicium cum laude. His main discipline was the Old Testament; dogmatics, Judaïca and Akkadian were his minor subjects.

On 8 June 2011, he obtained his doctorate at the Theological University of Apeldoorn with a dissertation entitled Israel in Romans 10. Intertextual and theological analysis of the Old Testament quotations in Romans 9:30-10:21.

From 1988 to 1995 he was a pastor of the Christian Reformed Churches of Doesburg, Doetinchem and Nijmegen, and from 1995 to 2005 of the Christian Reformed Church of Goes. From 1993 he taught Judaica and Church and Israel at the Theological University in Apeldoorn, and from 2006 ‘Church and Israel’ and various New Testament subjects at the Christelijke Hogeschool in Ede. From 2006-2014 he was a missionary consultant, working for the Services Office of the Christian Reformed Churches in Veenendaal; from 2006-2019 he was also director of the Centre for Israel Studies in Ede. Since 2014 he has taught New Testament at the TUA along with Judaica and Church and Israel, which means that since 2023, he has operated under a workload of 0.6 fte.
