Pieter Lourens Rouwendal was born in Apeldoorn on May 4, 1973. He studied theology in Utrecht with his main course being History of Reformed Protestantism and secondary courses on Dogmatics and Didactics. His doctoral thesis was about the nature, context and sources of Dr. C. Steenblok's objections to the generally generous offer of grace. He devoted his dissertation to research on the relation between predestination and preaching in Geneva theology from Calvin to Pictet (1536-1724). From 1995 to 2004 he worked as a teacher of religion at the Jacobus Fruytier Scholengemeenschap and then until 2012 as an acquiring editor at Kok Publishers. In that year he started his own publishing house: Brevier, which expanded with funds from Aldo Manuzio and Summum Academic Publications. Since 2019 he has been affiliated with the Theological University of Kampen as Associate Researcher on Church History. As of 1 September 2020 he has been appointed methodologist at the Theological University of Apeldoorn.
