Wijnand Anthonie Zondag was born on 30 March 1973 in Kerkwijk. Between 1991 and 1995 he studied law and economics in Utrecht. In 2001 he obtained his doctorate cum laude at the Erasmus University Rotterdam for his thesis entitled 'Reduction of working hours'. He was Professor of Labour Law at the University of Groningen from 2003 until 2015. In 2011 he started studying theology in Rotterdam, after which he, in 2015, was ordained as a pastor in the Reformed Congregation in Woerden, followed by the Reformed Congregation of Dordrecht as of 2019. Since 2021 he is combining his ministerial office with a professorship at TUA.
